Debbie Musgrave-Brown's primary focus is on pre-registration. She has professional experience of surgical and intensive care nursing. She is Education Champion for North Essex Community Placements, linking with Anglia Community Enterprises (ACE).

Background

Debbie Musgrave-Brown qualified as an Adult Nurse in 1999, and worked at Colchester Hospital on Emergency Surgical Wards and Intensive Care. Her surgical care involved caring for patients undergoing surgery, both pre-operatively and post-operatively. Her speciality included vascular surgery, gastro-intestinal surgery and general surgery. Her intensive care experience involved caring for patients who were critically ill, had multi-system failure, and required supportive interventions through the episode of illness. Debbie moved into education in 2003, working for Anglia Ruskin University.

MA Learning and Teaching examined the student experience of study skills teaching within the first year of a pre-registration nursing course.

Teaching

The focus of teaching has been primarily pre-registration nursing and includes the delivery or facilitation of all modules within the course. Personal Tutor providing course content and pastoral support. Module Leader for a first year pre-registration module ‘Research and Study Skills’ which develops individual study skills in relation to University learning, and introduces students to the importance of understanding research and evidence-based practice. Post-registration teaching previously included Principles of Surgical Care, but currently involves supervision of BSc and MSc students for Major Projects. Education Champion for North Essex Community Placements, linking with Anglia Community Enterprises (ACE), supporting all learners and mentors within the practice area.
