Christian is Director of the Professional Doctorate Programme in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at ARU. He also manages the delivery of the MSc Project Management, MSc Construction Project Management, MSc Engineering Management and MSC Construction and Civil Engineering Management courses in the School of Engineering and the Built Environment.
Between 2015-18 Christian was the Course Leader for the Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Construction.
Christian facilitates weekend workshops for doctoral candidates and CPD courses for senior executives and professionals in collaboration with industry partners including the Association of Project Management, Transport for London and Future Learn.
Before joining Anglia Ruskin University, Christian was a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Environment and Technology, University of the West of England. He holds a PhD and an MSc in Construction Project Management from the University of the West of England and a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
Christian is the co-author of the book Construction Project Management: Integrated Approach, one of the top construction management textbooks used across the globe. In 2013, he was awarded for an outstanding publication with Emerald Publishers for his research on privately-financed public sector projects which is central to his research interests.
Christian's research interests include public-private partnerships and private finance initiatives (PFIs), risk and uncertainty management, sustainable construction, value management and value for money in infrastructure projects (modeling, testing and sustainable economics), ethics in the built environment, and teaching and learning in the built environment.
As well as researching and publishing extensively on issues relating to project management and public-private-partnerships, Christian is an active reviewer for several leading journals in the field, including ASCE's Journal of Management in Engineering, APM/IPMA's International Journal of Project Management and Construction Management and Economics. He'a also the winner of an outstanding paper award with Emerald Literati for 2013.
Christian has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the following areas: project management; project management techniques; risk and value management; construction and commercial management; project planning and control; project evaluation and development; work-based and work-related learning in built environment; civil engineering contract administration.
