Anabel Simpson's areas of expertise are haematology and oncology nursing and biomedical science / biotechnology.

Background

Anabel Simpson is a registered nurse (RGN) in adult nursing. She worked mainly in oncology and haematology throughout her clinical career, and through this was involved in phase 1 and 2 clinical trials, and epidemiological studies. She also worked at HSHS as a clinical placement co-ordinator and in Health Education England (HEE formerly SHA) as a Practice Education Facilitator. To broaden her horizons she did a degree in biomedical sciences where she achieved a first class honours, and a PhD in biotechnology. Both of these were achieved at Anglia Ruskin University. Currently she is working in a seconded role at ARU from HEE and thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Research interests

I was involved in research into stem cell technology, clinical trials in oncology and also in mentorship, though have never published.

Teaching

Anabel is teaching pre-registration BSc nursing courses, currently personal tutor to two tutor groups. She is also link tutor to Papworth Hospital, and working as module tutor for module 4 ‘Promoting Health and Wellbeing’. She likes to teach biology, anatomy and physiology, and biomedical sciences.
