Albert Hushie has experience in mental health and learning disability, nursing in secure environments, rehabilitation, acute and psychiatric intensive care unit and community mental health care.

Background

Albert Hushie qualified as a Mental Health nurse in 2007. After qualifying, he worked in a community learning disability services in London as a nurse and Senior Manager and later went on to work in a locked rehabilitation community service for people with severe and enduring mental illness, as well as individuals with co-morbid mental health conditions.

Having then worked in the independent sector, he returned to the NHS and rose in his career to become a Matron at Essex Partnership University NHS foundation Trust.

Having accrued all these experiences over years, Albert decided to join ARU in 2021 and started working as lecture practitioner, with the Pre-Registration Mental Health nurses.

Currently he is the Module leader for Module 3, he is the link lecturer for the placement arears in Rochford, Basildon and Thurrock. Albert is also an academic assessor.

As a Module leader for Mental Health Pre-Registration Nursing at the Chelmsford Campus, Albert is responsible for updating and creating the module content for both the theory and the practical aspects of the module. In order to enhance student experience and to bridge the gap between practice and theory, he works once a week in clinical practice to ensure that he is abreast with current practice and to support students accordingly.
