The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test measures the language ability of candidates and indicates whether they're ready to study in English.

If you need to take an IELTS as part of your UKVI application it is likely that you will need to take either IELTS for UKVI or IELTS Life Skills (there may be exceptions to this rule if you are applying for a Tier 4 student visa). It is your responsibility to find out which test the UKVI require you to take.
