Over the next few years the college was to become one of the most ambitious and forward-looking business schools in France. The link with Anglia Business School was formed in 1987 with the creation of both student and staff exchange programmes. The relationship developed to include work placements, and in 1991 a formal ERASMUS link was established, allowing exchange students to attain dual qualifications. As Vice President of the Picardie Regional Council, responsible for higher education and research, and Deputy Mayor of the city of Amiens, Roger Mezin has been instrumental in establishing a regional development strategy, putting education and new learning technologies at the heart of economic regeneration.

In 1993 Roger Mezin was made an Honorary Fellow of the University.

Citation

"Roger Mezin is Director of the Groupe Sup de Co Amiens-Picardie. As graduate from the prestigious Ecole Nationale d'Administration and an experienced educator, he took up this post in 1981 and proceeded to turn his institution into one of the most ambitious and forward-looking business schools in France.

Groupe Sup de Co Amiens-Picardie and the Anglia Business School started co-operating in 1987 for the purpose of providing student exchanges for study periods and work placements as well as staff exchanges. This collaboration led the two partners to form an ERASMUS link in 1991 and agree a Memorandum of Co-operation to enable their students to attain dual qualifications.

It is for a large part Roger Mezin's innovatory spirit and determination which have made these achievements possible, but is also his regional role within Picardie, which gives the relationship a wider and deeper significance. As Vice President of the Picardie Regional Council - responsible for Higher Education and research - and Deputy Mayor of the city of Amiens, Roger Mezin is the driving force behind a regional development strategy which puts education and new learning technologies at the heart of economic regeneration. It is a vision which Anglia as the Regional University shares and which it strives to bring about on this side of the channel.

Building on the close link between Picardie Regional Council and Essex County Council, Anglia and Groupe Sup de Co Amiens-Picardie aim to continue to develop their partnership for the benefit of their staff and students and the wider regional communities in the years to come.

In acknowledgement of the achievements so far and as a token of friendship between the two institutions, Roger Mezin becomes an Honorary University Fellow."
