Proficient in both English and Portuguese, I have a strong background in financial analysis, technical writing, and public speaking.
My approach is actionable and results-oriented, focusing on transforming challenges into opportunities to drive growth and change, while upholding ARU's ethos of excellence and innovation.
I have actively contributed to global economic discourse through various publications and engagements at international forums, some of which have been utilised as references in academic and policy-making circles.
2. What is your fondest memory of Anglia Ruskin University?
My most cherished memory of Anglia Ruskin University is undoubtedly the moment I received my MBA diploma. Seeing 'Master of Business Administration, Class of June 2022,' along with the ARU logo and the official stamp was incredibly gratifying. This moment represented the culmination of at least four years of dedication and hard work and represented a dream I had envisioned daily, a goal I tirelessly pursued and finally a milestone I achieved. The recognition of my efforts and the sense of accomplishment made every sacrifice worthwhile.
3. What has been your favourite job?
My favourite job is being a self-employed entrepreneur, a dream I've had for over 15 years, which was encouraged by ARU's "Be Your Own Boss" SHoKE programme. It's an exciting time for entrepreneurship, now that technology is so advanced and there is a remote-working culture. This career path lets me use my skills, follow my passions, and work according to my values. Being my own boss gives me the freedom to focus on research and development, which helps me create more value for my stakeholders. I find this journey both professionally and personally rewarding.
4. In one word, how would you describe Anglia Ruskin University?
Gratificante (Rewarding).
5. How did your time at ARU help you?
My experience at ARU was transformative. I pursued a Master's degree in the UK through distance learning and chose ARU for its innovative programme. To reduce costs, I completed a Level 7 EQF extended diploma in International Strategic Management, recognized by OFQUAL, which allowed me to transfer 120 ECTS and gain advanced entry into the final report module on 'Entrepreneurial Action'.
During my time at ARU, I actively sought out opportunities for personal and professional growth. This included participating in workshops and the SHoKE programme, which allowed me to build valuable experience solving real-world problems in multi-disciplinary teams. The education I received was comprehensive, blending theory with practical applications such as action research and business model innovation. This journey was not solely about obtaining a degree; it was an enriching experience that profoundly influenced my professional identity and approach.
6. What did you love about your chosen course?
The Master of Business Administration programme at ARU stood out to me due to its comprehensive distance learning offering, which perfectly met my needs. The course's flexibility allowed me to delve deeply into my studies while balancing other responsibilities. At ARU, I seized every growth opportunity, engaging in numerous workshops and fully leveraging resources. These experiences enriched me beyond standard academic learning, teaching me reflection, action research, and entrepreneurial action, all rooted in scientific rigour. The curriculum's blend of theory and practical application, especially in business model innovation, was particularly impactful. The course at ARU transcended academic learning; it was a transformative journey that shaped my professional identity.
It was a rewarding experience that has profoundly influenced my career and life approach.
7. What advice would you give to current students as they’re preparing to graduate?
Manage work commitments efficiently by setting your priorities. To maintain productivity, it is important to take breaks. It is also important to be honest with yourself. Make time for family and friends, and prioritise your health by getting enough rest and staying active. Remember that balance is key; while striving for professional success, do not lose sight of the other aspects of life that make it fulfilling and meaningful.
8. What do you know now that you wish you had known whilst studying?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe that everything happens for a reason. Therefore, there is nothing I wish I had known while studying that I did not know at the time. Every experience, whether understood at the time or realised in hindsight, has been integral to my personal growth and this journey.
9. Who was the biggest influence on your career?
The most significant influences on my career have come from a wide and supportive network. My family, including my parents, partner, siblings, uncles, aunts, and cousins, have provided a foundation of support and inspiration.
Equally influential have been my teachers, football and rugby coaches, teammates, collaborators, confidants, and friends. Each individual in this diverse group has played a unique role in shaping my career path, providing inspiration and guidance at every stage of my journey.
10. What advice would you give your younger self?
Strive for balance in your life. Be honourable in your actions and maintain control over your emotions. Always remember that every action has consequences. Success is not just a matter of individual talent but is achieved through discipline and teamwork. While individual skill is valuable, it is the collective effort of a team that wins championships.
11. Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
My ultimate aim is to continuously develop, monetise, and safeguard my intellectual property. Currently, I am involved in an extensive research project that analyses five centuries of speculative behaviour in securities, capital formation, and real estate markets. The focus is on uncovering patterns in historical case studies, with a particular interest in learning from past mistakes. My research tools vary from Google Scholar and Google Search to more unconventional sources such as YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, and AI technologies.
12. What’s next?
I plan to take my next steps by deepening my research and developing business models that significantly outperform current solutions, and creating, monetising, and safeguarding my intellectual property. A key part of this process will be finding the right people, organisations and technology to partner with. In addition, I intend to eventually do the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA). This advanced degree will not only deepen my expertise but also open doors to new opportunities in the academic field. With this higher qualification, I aspire to step into the realm of lecturing, where I can share my knowledge and insights with the next generation of professionals.
