Over the past three years, ARU's Chelmsford Science Festival has brought science to life for our community. Hosted on our Chelmsford campus, the 2023 festival was a collaborative effort with partners including the Chelmsford Science and Engineering Society and Southend Tech.
The 2023 festival captivated nearly 13,000 attendees with its mix of talks, performances, and interactive activities for all ages.

Engaging activities
- Family-friendly science: Families enjoyed educational and entertaining activities inspired by ARU's latest research, from assembling skeletons to constructing skyscrapers.
- Cutting-edge exhibits: The festival showcased modern health challenges with diabetes management videos and demonstrated AI-assisted search and rescue technology.
- Immersive experiences: Attendees explored the universe in a touring planetarium, created music with virtual reality, tested their wits against a crow's intelligence, designed future cities, and got a taste of life in the emergency services.<
