Launch of the Vice Chancellor’s Awards 2020

Published: 14 February 2020 at 10:33

Today sees the launch of this year’s call for nominations for our Vice Chancellor’s Awards with new categories added to reflect the full breadth of our work.

The Awards celebrate and reward individuals and teams’ shared ambition to realise our mission of “Transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research.”

There are three categories, each with a suite of awards, to recognise colleagues working in professional services and faculties who deliver: an outstanding and inclusive educational experience for our students; transformative research and innovation; impactful community engagement and leadership.

Nominations are now sought for:

Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Excellent Education

  • Early Career Excellent Education
  • Sustained Excellence in Education
  • Outstanding Leadership in Education
  • Award for Collaborative Activities

Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Research and Innovation

  • Early Career Outstanding Researcher
  • Outstanding Established Researcher
  • Outstanding Doctoral Supervision
  • Outstanding Research Impact
  • Outstanding Business Collaboration
  • Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Professional Contributions to ARU
Awards (up to eight) in this category seek to celebrate individual and team contributions which have helped create a vibrant community of students, staff and partners; distinctive and people-facing approaches to solving challenges; effective, efficient and sustainable use of resources; and innovation.

Says Vice Chancellor Professor Roderick Watkins: “I encourage all colleagues to look through the Awards categories to identify and recognise outstanding individual and team contributions from both Faculties and Professional Services in all three categories.  We’re particularly keen to celebrate the contributions of individuals and teams whose work might not be as immediately visible as some, but are nevertheless making an outstanding contribution to our success.”

There are two important dates for the nomination process; the first for supporters to receive nominees’ applications (5pm on Friday 27 March 2020) and the second for final submission to Anglia Learning & Teaching (5pm on Thursday 9 April 2020).

Successful nominees will receive £2,000 (£4,000 for teams) to reinvest in their faculty or service; a framed certificate and a lapel pin. They will also be invited to the annual Staff Awards Dinner on Thursday 3 September 2020.
