New Assessment and Feedback Practice Lead announced

Published: 2 November 2021 at 13:36

Shaun Le Boutillier will be taking up a new strategic post at ARU, to work with all Schools to enhance student and staff experiences in assessment and feedback for learning.

Based within Anglia Learning and Teaching, Shaun will work directly with staff teams and students to collaborate in partnership on the embedding of good practice, streamlining of processes, and a shared understanding of the purpose and use of assessment and feedback between students and their markers. Through this work we hope to collectively raise the benchmark for purposeful, meaningful, inclusive and effective assessment for learning.

Shaun draws on his valuable strategic work and experience as Director of Studies in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and more recently on his work in developing apprenticeship standards and assessment. This new role will also be key in supporting our institutional approach to future Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) submissions.

Alex Moseley, Head of Anglia Learning and Teaching, said:

“We were delighted to appoint Shaun to this key strategic role. It was clear during the recruitment process that he shared our desire to work in partnership with staff and students within schools, and to connect our local approaches to wider good practice in the sector.

"I look forward to seeing how Shaun helps our staff and students to build on their existing good practice and raise our benchmark for inclusive, effective and authentic assessment and feedback.”

Shaun said:

“I am hugely enthusiastic about taking up the role of Assessment and Feedback Practice Lead. Assessment is very much at the heart of what we do as an educational institution, and I look forward to learning from the excellent practice that I know is already in place across our faculties.

"Sharing our good practice is a part of our commitment to making learning and teaching a better experience for both students and lecturers. I really look forward to exploring this area and engaging with all of our dedicated and expert staff, and our students too.”
