George Reid

George Reid

George Reid’s working life was involved with the University of Cambridge and its Colleges.

The first part of his academic career was as a Lecturer in Mathematics. He served as a Tutor in St John’s College, and then briefly Senior Tutor, before becoming Senior Bursar in 1991, an office that he held for 14 years. That was followed by work for the Colleges collectively on legal, administrative and policy matters. He is a Life Fellow of St John’s College.

Having served for 14 years as a member of Cambridge City Council, he is now an Honorary Councillor. He was Mayor of the City of Cambridge in 1990-91. He has also served as charity trustee of various local charities, including Wintercomfort for the Homeless, Cambridge and District Citizens Advice Bureau, and Ely Cathedral Trust.
