Clare Panniker

Clare Panniker

A former nurse who has spent over 30 years working in the NHS, Clare joined East of England from Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, where she was Chief Executive since the Trust formed in April 2020.

Prior to this, Clare was Chief Executive of the predecessor Trusts – Basildon and Thurrock, Mid Essex and Southend. Clare was also CEO of North Middlesex University Hospital for nine years prior to moving to Essex.

Clare is committed to supporting NHS colleagues to provide better and more joined-up patient care. She leads the region’s work with integrated care boards focusing on improvement in the provision of healthcare and outcomes for the 6.3m population of the East of England, as well as shaping future policy and strategy as part of the national executive team.

Clare is the Chair of the ARU Board of Governors.
