National Student Survey 2022

Our students are full of talent and promise, and here at ARU we channel their focus, harness their energy and foster their self-belief, providing them with the tools they need to realise their potential.

We do this by developing and teaching a curriculum that is practical, sustainable and responsive. We encourage dynamic interactions between our students, lecturers and partner organisations; it’s those interactions that drive innovation, relevance and impact in the most complex areas of our society.

What matters is what our students achieve when they’re with us – and the positive change they bring to their world as graduates.

Our students rate their learning opportunities

The National Student Survey (NSS) gathers students’ opinions on the quality of their courses. Every university in the UK takes part as do many colleges.

Students taking part in the survey are asked a series of questions about aspects of university life, including teaching, assessment and feedback, learning opportunities, and student voice. This year, 65% of our final-year students responded.

Our overall satisfaction score of 77% is above the average for universities in England.

We’re in the top 15% of mainstream* universities for Learning Opportunities – students have said their courses allow them to bring information and ideas together from different topics and give them opportunities to apply what they have learnt.

We're ranked in the top 14% for 'My course has challenged me to achieve my best work'.

Our commitment to provide a fair, supportive and inclusive learning environment for our students is also recognised. We're in the top 20% of mainstream universities for:

Overall, our student satisfaction scores have increased for every question.

"If I could highlight one great thing about ARU, it would be my lecturers. They are so passionate and so knowledgeable that it makes it an enjoyable and rewarding experience to learn from them."

We really value the results, as they help us to enhance our students' experience. They also help prospective students to make an informed choice about where they want to study.

Celebrating our students’ successes

We’re extremely proud of our students and their successes. And we’re proud of #OurPeople, too, and the transformational difference that staff are making to our students’ lives.
