Careers

You will gain specialist and transferable skills on your degree, including:

  • a deep understanding of child development and learning processes
  • knowledge of UK educational policies, safeguarding, and SEND frameworks
  • research and data analysis expertise to support evidence-based practices
  • collaboration and communication skills, working with peers, teachers, parents, and other professionals via live briefs and work experience.

Once you’ve completed our Psychology with Education degree course, you’ll be able to register with the BPS as a graduate chartered member.

You could use your psychological knowledge and research, analytical, and communication skills to work with children, families, and schools to support learning, emotional, and behavioural needs.

You might undertake further training and become an educational psychologist, a learning support coordinator, a special educational needs coordinator or an educational researcher, for example.

After gaining sufficient experience in educational settings with children and young people aged 0-25, you can train as an educational psychologist by undertaking a three-year doctoral training course. As an educational psychologist you’ll work with children, families, and schools to support learning, emotional, and behavioural needs. This includes conducting assessments, designing interventions, and working alongside teachers and parents. Educational psychologists work within local education authorities (LEAs), schools, and private practice.
