ARU catering credit terms and conditions

1. About the Offer

1.1 Anglia Ruskin University ("ARU") of Bishop Hall Lane, Chelmsford, CM1 1SQ (the Promoter) is offering eligible ARU students the opportunity to enter a prize draw to receive £500 of ARU Catering Credit.

1.2 "Catering Credit” means credit with a value of £500 (five hundred pounds sterling) that may be used towards the purchase of food and non-alcoholic drinks in participating ARU venues. For the avoidance of doubt, the Catering Credit cannot be used to purchase alcoholic drinks or any other alcohol-related products.

1.3 A total of 100 prizes are available.

1.4 The Catering Credit has no cash value; it cannot be exchanged for cash and is non-transferable.

2. Eligibility

2.1 To be eligible for entry into the prize draw, students must:

  • be assessed as a Home Undergraduate fee student;
  • be commencing Year 1 of a full-time ARU undergraduate course in September 2026;
  • open to all students who have applied and accepted an offer to study at ARU for September 2026;
  • have accepted an offer to study at ARU;
  • complete enrolment and registration with ARU by the published enrolment deadline; and
  • remain registered on an eligible programme of study at the relevant award dates.

2.2 The offer is not available to:

  • international students;
  • students studying through ARU London;
  • students undertaking a Foundation Year delivered through ARU College;
  • further education students;
  • degree apprenticeship students;
  • distance learning students;
  • students entering directly into Year 2 or above;
  • returning or re-enrolling students into Year 1.

3. Entry into the Prize Draw

3.1 ARU will issue a unique QR code to all eligible students.

3.2 To enter the prize draw, students must scan their unique QR code during the designated Welcome Week period, from 10 am on 14 September 2026 to 6 pm on Friday 18 September 2026 and follow any instructions provided by the University.

3.3 Students who do not scan their QR code during the published entry period (by 6pm on Friday 18 September) will not be entered into the draw.

3.4 QR codes are personal to the student and must not be shared, transferred or used by another individual.

4. Prize Draw Process

4.1 The prize draw will take place following the close of enrolment activity no later than 23 October 2026.

4.2 Winners will be selected at random from all eligible students who have successfully entered the prize draw by scanning their QR code during ARU Welcome Week.

4.3 ARU's decision as the Promoter regarding eligibility and the outcome of the prize draw is final.

4.4 Winners will be notified by email to their ARU student email account week commencing 26 October 2026. Students are responsible for monitoring their student email account.

4.5 If a selected winner is subsequently found not to meet the eligibility criteria, ARU reserves the right to withdraw the Catering Credit award and select an alternative winner.

5. Award of Catering Credit

5.1 Catering Credit will be loaded to the winner's ARU student ID card and can only be used at participating ARU-operated and Union catering outlets which will be notified to a winner by email.

5.2 The £500 Catering Credit will be provided in three instalments across the 2026/2027 academic year.

5.3 Subject to continued eligibility, Catering Credit will be automatically loaded to the student's ARU ID card as follows:

  • Trimester 1: £200
  • Trimester 2: £200
  • Trimester 3: £100

5.3 ARU reserves the right to vary the timing of credit loading where reasonably necessary for operational reasons.

5.4 Catering Credit cannot be exchanged for cash, refunded, transferred to another individual or used for any purpose other than catering purchases within participating ARU catering outlets.

5.5 Catering Credit awarded under this scheme is valid only for the academic year in which it is awarded. Any unused credit will expire on 31 July 2027 and will not be refunded or carried forward.

5.6 The use of Catering Credit remains subject to any applicable ARU terms and conditions in force from time to time.

6. Continued Eligibility

6.1 Students must remain enrolled on an eligible ARU programme at each credit loading date.

6.2 Students who withdraw, suspend their studies, transfer to an ineligible programme, or otherwise cease to meet the eligibility criteria before a credit loading date will forfeit any unpaid balance of the Credit Catering award.

6.3 Credit already issued will not normally be withdrawn.

7. General Conditions

7.1 The University reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the Catering Credit scheme where reasonably necessary, including for operational, legal, regulatory or financial reasons.

7.2 The University may verify eligibility and request additional information where required.

7.3 By entering the prize draw, students are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.

7.4 Personal data will be processed for the purposes of administering the Catering Credit scheme in accordance with the University's Data Protection Policy and Privacy Notice.

7.5 These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law.
