Literature, language and writing

Communication is your thing. You’re into how humans use words, stories and images to express their ideas. Our courses let you develop your own style of writing and explore facets of English language, literature and linguistics that fascinate you. And we give you industry insight through links with creative organisations.

Here at ARU in Cambridge, we're home to a thriving community of students. Some are focused on creative writing and publishing, others on the social or cultural aspects of English. But they're all united by a love of language and communication.

During your studies, you'll gain the confidence and practical skills to pursue your ambitions. And you'll be able to learn, experiment and create in a supportive environment, with feedback from your fellow students, tutors, and visiting professionals.

Our research-active staff will support you all the way, sharing the knowledge and insights they've gained as published authors, editors and linguists.

If you join us as an undergraduate, our strong industry links will give you invaluable opportunities to improve your employability through work placements. There's also the opportunity to take an optional placement year as part of your degree.

All our students will be able build professional networks through events such as guest lectures, field trips, and writing masterclasses.
