Continuing Professional Development (short course, distance learning)
1 day per week
Module level: 6
Module credits: 30 credits
These short courses support your continuing professional development in the cardiac physiology and respiratory physiology workforce.
In order to address this shortfall an increasing number of departments are recruiting graduates from non-cardiac physiology degrees and delivering in-house training. Our module is for you if you are working in a clinical physiology setting, as well as many other disciplines within healthcare science and allied health. We'll develop your skills in interpreting quality assured ECG from a variety of settings - such as ambulatory monitoring and exercise tolerance testing - and interpreting the results.
One of the recommendations is that a further 500 training places are required in order to address the gap in the healthcare science work force, providing respiratory and sleep physiology services. Our module is for you as a non-registered graduate, undergoing in-house training in respiratory physiology. The learning gained in this module will allow you to undertake the national professional body exam in order to apply for registration.
These short courses are delivered entirely by distance learning using our Learning Management System, so you won't attend classes and you can plan your studies to fit around your work and personal commitments.
The Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine and Social Care is the largest in ARU, with over 7,000 students. Our Faculty is teeming with expertise and primed to meet the demand for creating health professionals, teachers, doctors, scientists and educators for the three districts we serve: Chelmsford, Cambridge and Peterborough.
We have been training undergraduates for professional roles for over 25 years, with a reputation for quality, dedication and ambition balanced with student satisfaction.
We know that to give our students the very best experiential learning, prior to getting into the workplace, simulation is second to none, for safe, realistic, learning environments. We have invested heavily in purpose built simulated wards, science labs and skills space, to support our students through their learning.
Please ask your manager or Education Lead about available funding before you apply.
