Compassionate Resilience for Professional Practice

Building on your existing strengths and resources, you will develop your skills of reflection and self-awareness and reduce your stress levels and risks of burnout.

As an in-practice professional you will learn and apply in your practice the fast-growing theoretical framework for ‘Compassionate Resilience’. Find out how you can use the personal compassionate resilience skills, that you will develop on the programme, as well as in your team, clinical practice and at the organisational level.

Together, we’ll explore self-awareness, understand how to foster hope, discover how to form supportive relationships and utilising compassionate resilience in leadership, management and supervision.

Throughout the programme, you’ll pack your Resilience Kitbag, demonstrating your critical understanding, and informed application, of the compassionate resilience skills in practice.

You’ll benefit from on-campus and online learning, supported by experts and energised through a multi-agency mix in the classroom. Additionally, you will build the skills for reflection and reflexivity to adopt compassionate resilience in your practice.

This module will enable you to build a good understanding of the concepts, theory, and practice of compassionate resilience.

A trauma-informed approach will aid you in developing emotional regulation skills which can facilitate a reduction in the risk of stress overload and burnout. These key skills will also enable you to foster this trauma informed approach in your team, staff you line manage and your organisation.

The module will guide you through several principal subject areas. Each one interfaces with the psychobiological-based theory, and practice, of compassionate resilience, including:

• Self-awareness as the basis for building your Self-compassion.
• Creation of your own, individual Compassionate Resilience Kitbag.
• Using Compassionate Resilience in Leadership and Management.
• Using Compassionate Resilience in Clinical Practice - (Micro skills of compassionate teams).
• Facilitating practical Compassionate Resilience approaches within Restorative Supervision.

For this we will be using trauma informed experiential learning – activities applied to your own lived experience of your professional practice.
