Our PG Dip and PG Cert in General Practice Nursing are for NMC registered nurses looking to develop their professional knowledge, skills, attitudes and attributes required of a general practice nurse when delivering safe and effective person-centred nursing care.
We’ll support you to develop the skills and attributes required for inter-professional team working, maintaining professional relationships, and acknowledge the contribution of a collaborative and integrated approach to care.
You’ll evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems which contribute to innovation and improvement in health care practice. You'll also engage with reflective and evidence-based practice to inform the delivery of safe and effective person-centred general practice nursing.
The education and development of the practice nurse workforce is a key priority in healthcare. Effective education and a defined career pathway aims to attract new talent into primary care as well as contributing to recruitment and retention, enhancing the sustainable workforce.
We’ll use innovate and varied assessments to ensure you are progressing, with blended learning, making the most of the e-learning environment, seminars and time in practice.
You’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills to (as part of an inter-professional team) provide quality care to those accessing health services. The course supports the development of a range of transferable skills including communication, teamwork, problem solving, decision making, prioritisation, facilitation, teaching, use of digital technology and leadership skills.
The ability to retrieve research findings and appraise them to establish their value to the healthcare setting is also important for healthcare professionals to be able to deliver quality evidence-based care.
This course will enhance your understanding of the NHS and professional values required to ensure that the safety of the public remains paramount. On completion of the PG Diploma, you may choose to top-up to a full Masters degree.
