Here at ARU we have a track record for innovative midwifery training. If you’re a midwife looking to refine your skills and quickly apply them to your practice, our Higher Midwifery Practice MSc is for you.

As a postgraduate student, you’ll learn to assess the individual needs of women and how to plan, implement and evaluate care that meets the need of mother, baby and family alike.

You’ll also recognise and respond to facts that affect the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of mothers and babies while developing essential problem solving skills.

The 1-year full-time and 2-year part-time versions of this course are offered by blended learning: a mixture of campus-based sessions in Chelmsford and online learning. You can also choose to study this course by distance learning.

Completing our MSc Higher Midwifery Practice gives you the potential to move into leadership positions in clinical settings, or follow a career in the fields of management, research and teaching.

If you choose to learn on campus, you’ll also have the option to complete the course with an additional qualification as a Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) practitioner.
