Programme content
A programme designed with employer needs in mind. It mixes theory with practical learning in the workplace.
You'll gain staff with the core skills, knowledge, and occupational behaviours to achieve a high level of professional competency. The result? A real positive impact within your organisation.
All apprenticeships have been assigned a minimum requirement of off-the-job-training (OTJT) hours to comply with the Funding Rules. Your account manager will advise you on how these OTJT hours are planned.
This time will focus on building the knowledge and skills needed for the apprenticeship and is not part of your apprentice’s regular work duties.
Off-the-job learning will occur through online sessions led by the University. It will also include one-day workshops every other week at ARU Peterborough.
All other learning takes place ‘on the job’ through practical learning experiences in their usual work setting.
Environmental Science and Sustainability
Environmental Monitoring and Data Analysis
Environmental Challenge Project 1
Environmental Challenge Project 2
Remote Sensing and Database Interrogation
Ruskin Module (15 credits)
Data Management and Geographical Information Systems
At the end of each module, we will assess your apprentice. These on-programme assessments count towards their final qualification.
They’ll also complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). The EPA is independently assessed and occurs after all on-programme assessments have been passed.
As an apprentice, you’ll work and study at the same time. This means you can put what you learn from the classroom into practice in your job straight away. You'll build your skills, gain experience, and grow as an environmental practitioner.
From the start, you’ll take part in hands-on, project-based learning. Through both individual and group work, you’ll tackle real environmental challenges faced by industry and society. You’ll build strong problem-solving skills that you can use in many different workplaces, from manufacturing and consultancy to environmental protection and government roles.

Fees and funding

The Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship programme costs £1,350 for non-levy-paying employers.
You will only pay 5% of the costs of the apprenticeship programme. The Government pays the remaining 95%.
