Introduction
Gain a deeper understanding of equine management and develop your technical and practical knowledge, with our Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate at Writtle College.
As a student at Writtle College you’ll be based in our Equine Training and Development Centre. Part of our rural 150-hectare campus, it’s home to around 70 horses and a range of equine facilities.
You’ll learn about equine health, stable routines and tack fitting, but also explore areas such as equine behaviour and therapy, training techniques and event management. There are plenty of opportunities to develop your practical skills too, such as grooming, clipping, riding and lunging.
You’ll also gain valuable experience with a one-week work placement in the equine industry.

Careers and educational progression
After completing this Level 3 qualification, you’ll be well-placed to find a job in the equine industry, with possible jobs including stable yard worker, riding school assistant, or apprentice in an equine business.
Or you might choose to continue your studies, by progressing to the second year of our Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Equine Management (720). This, in turn, can lead on to degree-level study.
