International Undergraduate Scholarship
Our International Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to international students starting an undergraduate course at ARU. There are two levels of award depending on the standard of your application.
Value
Lower award – up to £5,000
You will receive £2,000 in the first year and £1,000 in each of the subsequent years subject to eligibility, up to a maximum of three further years of study. To receive £2,000, we assess the overall standard of the application including entry qualifications.
To qualify for a further £1,000 in subsequent years you must have successfully completed the previous level and not be carrying forward any additional credits to the following academic year.
*Please note Writtle applicants are automatically awarded £2k in their first year.
Higher award – up to £7,000
You will receive £4,000 in the first year and £1,000 in each of the subsequent years subject to eligibility, up to a maximum of three further years of study. To receive this award, your overall application standard must exceed minimum requirements including entry qualifications.
To qualify for a further £1,000 in subsequent years you must have successfully completed the previous level and not be carrying forward any additional credits to the following academic year.
Eligibility
To be eligible for consideration for our International Undergraduate Scholarship you must be:
- an international student (international tuition fee payer)
- starting a full-time bachelors degree at one of our core campuses (not London)
- studying full-time, unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing full-time study.
Degree apprenticeships, foundation degrees, distance learning or work-based degrees and students applying to ARU College are excluded.
How to apply
There is no need to apply. You’ll automatically receive our International Undergraduate Scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria.
- Not available for Pre-sessional English, ARUC or online courses.
- Only available for courses commencing in the 2024/25 academic year – applicants who fail to register cannot transfer the discount to subsequent intakes unless agreed by the University.
- If applicants join at an advanced entry point (year 2 or year 3) the discount is still available at the rate above i.e. £1000 per year.
- Only available for UG taught applicants - not during work placement or study abroad years. Study must be at an ARU UK campus.
- Only available to applicants joining the University for the first time – not ARU graduates or ARUC graduates.
- Student must have successfully completed the previous level and not be carrying forward any additional credits to the following academic year.
- The UG Progression scholarship is only available to students studying on a full-time UG course and cannot be combined with any other scholarship (unless exceptionally awarded at the University’s discretion).
- Recipients of the UG Progression Scholarship can qualify for the International Early Payment Discount in their first year of study if they pay their fees in full by the relevant date.
- The UG Progression Scholarship will be administered as a £1000 deduction from tuition fees once applicants register at the University for each subsequent year of study.
- Applicants sponsored by an organisation such as an employer, charitable body, or government department, or those receiving federal tuition fee loans may not be eligible, depending on the terms and conditions of their respective funding body.
- Candidates will be required to meet all conditions of registration before the discount is awarded.
- For students that withdraw (both student & university initiated); all discounts will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis in line with the fee related liability and all discounts or scholarships will be subject to the terms and conditions of the award.
- For students joining with Accredited Prior Certified Learning (APCL), all discounts will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis in line with the fee related liability.
