Video production company Posh Gecko is working with CoDE & Cambridge School of Art to develop a new Motion Graphics Department.

Posh Gecko is a multi-award winning video production company based in Peterborough. Formed in 2011 they have quickly grown to become a key player in the UK video production industry by creating innovative and engaging video content for use on websites, YouTube, social media and in marketing campaigns. As a cutting edge video production company born in a modern digital world, they are constantly looking at ways to develop new products.

In July 2014, Posh Gecko learned about the European Regional Development Funds' Low Carbon KEEP programme and decided this would be the perfect vehicle to help them implement a brand new Motion Graphics Department. After interviewing numerous candidates, Lewis Harvey – a local motion graphics artist – was given the role and quickly got stuck into creating new motion graphics and animation projects.

The project is being supervised by CoDE Director Dr Rob Toulson and Cambridge School of Art's Julian Hughes-Watts (Course Leader for Computer Games Art), who are helping Posh Gecko to take on new skills and embrace a number of new digital market opportunities.

Lewis said:

"It has been a crazy few months since joining Posh Gecko, I have worked on numerous and varied projects for all types of clients including SMEs, local authorities and big brands such as IKEA. With a long list of clients already taking a keen interest in our motion graphics offering, I can already see this being the start of a long journey that both myself and Posh Gecko are keen to continue after the KEEP contract has finished."

Thanks to the collaboration with Anglia Ruskin, Posh Gecko now offer a digital animation service that is solely produced from their studio in Peterborough. As a result they have also dramatically decreased their carbon emissions in line with the KEEP project objectives.

With an ever-increasing order list for videos with motion graphics and the benefits that CoDE, Cambridge School of Art and Anglia Ruskin University are gaining from working with a company at the cutting edge of their industry, the future is indeed bright for all parties concerned.
