Yvonne is a registered optometrist with extensive experience and recognition across the sector, including in clinical roles, education and professional and regulatory bodies.

With a PhD in Optometry, she is also a Fellow of the College of Optometrists and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Background

Yvonne gained her PhD from ARU on the subject of visual crowding in children. She is a member of the Vision and Hearing Sciences Research Group.

After graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in ophthalmic optics, Yvonne gained clinical experience working in the Hospital Eye Service and in private and multiple practice. She held the position of Professional Services Manager (Eastern Region) for Boots Opticians Ltd.

Yvonne is a chief examiner for the College of Optometrists and is a member of the OSCE editing and writing group. She was also a panel member of the Fitness to Practise Panel appointed by the UK regulatory body, the General Optical Council.
