Background

Stuart started his health career in Peterborough working with Vivacity, supporting the operations teams across multiple sites in the City. He then worked for a number of sport federations including British Fencing, British Athletics, Special Olympics GB before moving into health whilst completing his PhD at Northumbria University. His PhD focussed on how communities could manage and operate leisure facilities and became an important study of the capacity of communities to run services to improve their own health. Following its publication Stuart set up a number of social prescribing services in Peterborough and managed a large social prescribing charity in the West Midlands before joining ARU Peterborough in 2024.

Stuart is passionate about addressing inequalities, putting communities in control, and above all, ensuring community members can live happy, healthy lives.
