Shabana is a Dispensing Optician specialising in Contact Lenses. She shares her time between clinics  for a large optical group and teaching on our Ophthalmic Dispensing and Contact Lens pathways. Outside of ARU, she works for a large practice, managing the Contact Lens clinics whilst supporting and guiding the Optometry and Dispensing teams.

Background

Shabana started her optical journey in 1999 and has worked for a number of optical groups throughout her career, spanning over 20 years. She qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2001 via distance learning with ABDO and later trained to become a Contact Lens Optician, qualifying in 2004. She is involved with the training of dispensing opticians, contact lens opticians and pre-registeration optometrists within her practice and is the principal leader for Dry Eye management. She was the first group of Contact Lens Opticians to undertake the Minor Eye Conditions Path to become MECS accredited.
