Shabana Younus

Shabana is a Dispensing Optician specialising in Contact Lenses. She shares her time between clinics for a large optical group and teaching on our Ophthalmic Dispensing and Optometry pathways. Outside of ARU, she manages contact lens clinics, works as a Clinical Education Consultant for the Alcon Education Professional Faculty and is an examiner for ABDO and WOPEC.

Background

Shabana started her optical journey in 1999 and has worked for several optical groups throughout her career, spanning over 20 years. She qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2001 and later trained to become a Contact Lens Optician, qualifying in 2004.

She has been involved with the training of dispensing opticians, contact lens opticians and pre-registration optometrists within practices, and was the principal leader for Dry Eye management. Shabana joined ARU in May 2021, and has taken the lead on five modules across the discipline. She has built a strong foundation for providing renowned education at the highest level and is now a Course Leader.
