Professor Roger Motson is Director of The ICENI Centre for Laparoscopic Surgery at Colchester University Hospital and Professor of Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University's School of Medicine.

Background

As a pioneer of laparoscopic surgery in the UK, Professor Motson ran one of the first training courses for laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 1992. Consultant surgeons and surgical trainees from all over the world have attended courses in Colchester over the last 25 years.

Professor Motson is a past President of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain, the Royal Society of Medicine Section of Coloproctology, the Colchester Medical Society and the International Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeons. He has lectured and demonstrated laparoscopic surgical techniques in many countries and published more than 140 scientific papers.
