Kate teaches on our undergraduate illustration course and is an illustrator and writer of non-fiction children’s books and an artist. Her work has been published by Bloomsbury, Seren and Penguin Random House. She has worked for a range of commercial clients from Nokia and Peugeot to MTV and Sigur Ros.

Background

Kate studied Fine Art BA (Hons) at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and went on to work as a stop-frame animator for 15 years, working under the pseudonym DuckEye creating commercials and music videos for a range of high profile clients.

Kate completed her MA Children's Book Illustration in 2019, winning the Cambridge School of Art Ronald Searle prize for creativity, runner-up in the Batsford Prize for Illustration, and highly commended in the V&A Student Illustrator of the year 2020.

Her work has been published by a range of publishers. Her debut book was published by Penguin Random House in 2023 and has been longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2024. Her second book as a writer/illustrator is due for publication in 2025.
