Students and staff come together on campus to remember the fallen
Two giant poppies were the centrepiece at Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford campus as students and staff came together to remember those who were killed, those who fought with them and alongside.
The 24-inch creations, designed and made by Nicole Tomlin, an administrator in Anglia Ruskin’s Lord Ashcroft International Business School, were hung in the foyer of the main reception for the annual Remembrance service on Friday (10 November).
The poppies will remain on campus beyond Remembrance Day, while another of Nicole’s creations has been donated to the Royal British Legion.
“I am passionate about being creative and following the giant pom-poms I created for the restaurant area of the Lord Ashcroft Building, someone suggested I produce poppies for Remembrance Day. I loved this idea and knew I could create something to acknowledge this solemn occasion.
“It is incredibly satisfying to hear positive feedback and to learn my poppies have created lots of great conversations in the office.”
Ceremonies were held on Friday at Anglia Ruskin’s campuses in Chelmsford and Cambridge.
