Doors open to paramedics of the future

Anglia Ruskin University offers January start with placements at ambulance trust

Potential lifesavers can meet ambulance staff, watch an emergency reconstruction and view world-class facilities at an open day at Anglia Ruskin University.

The Medical Science, Health and Education Open Day will allow people to visit Anglia Ruskin’s Chelmsford campus to find out more about courses available to start in January 2015. It follows the establishment of the Faculty of Medical Science, which is founded on the strong international reputation of Anglia Ruskin’s flagship Postgraduate Medical Institute.

Courses available in January include Paramedic Science, where placements are offered within the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust as part of the three-year course. Working ambulances and paramedic staff will be present at Saturday’s open day and there will be hands-on activities, a medical skills showcase and a reconstructed emergency scene.

Dr Ruth Jackson, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Science, said:

“Our Paramedic Science course generated tremendous interest in September and students have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge so far. It’s great to be able to offer more places in January and, with the help of the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, we hope to equip students with the skills to save lives in the future.
“This weekend’s open day is an opportunity for people interested in this career path to find out more and get a real hands-on feel for what the course involves.”
