Peter Doherty in the video for his new single

Twitter chat sees Anglia Ruskin student land role illustrating Peter Doherty’s video

Social media can be a great way for fans to keep up to date with musicians – but for one talented Anglia Ruskin University student it led to a major role in her favourite singer’s new video.

Second year student Celine Jennings produced the artwork used in the video for Peter Doherty’s new single I Don’t Love Anyone (But You’re Not Just Anyone), after striking up a conversation with The Libertines and Babyshambles frontman on Twitter.

Celine, 20, who grew up in Chelmsford and studies BA (Hons) Illustration in Cambridge, said:

“It came about after Peter ‘followed’ my sister and me on Twitter after we had been tweeting Babyshambles lyrics at each other.

“A few weeks later I went to see The Libertines at a charity gig in Brixton and I messaged him after the gig, and we started talking about the new songs he was working on.

“I mentioned I studied illustration at Anglia Ruskin University and he asked me to do some illustrations for the new single.  I have some of my drawings on my Twitter page, so perhaps he had seen those, but it felt really spontaneous!

“I drew a few different illustrations and ideas for the song and one of them, thankfully, Peter loved and I was asked to develop that for an animated video.

“The process was fast but really fun.  It all happened over a few weeks so it was a bit of a rush, but it was exciting talking to Luca Monterosso Wittmann, the animator and director, who is based in Italy.

“I think Luca made the final video look absolutely amazing and it really does justice to the song in a simple, organic way.  I’m really proud to have played a part in it.”
