Broaden your mind with inaugural lectures in 2025
Anglia Ruskin University experts to put on a series of free talks throughout the year
A series of free public lectures covering a range of important subjects will be held throughout 2025 to celebrate new Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) professors.
Through the talks, academics will share their achievements in research with the wider community and create awareness of the latest developments in their specialist areas.
The first event of 2025 will take place on Wednesday, 22 January, when Professor of Cognition and Mental Health, Sharon Morein, will discuss compulsive behaviours and explore how difficulties in self-control relate to conditions such as ADHD, OCD, and hoarding.
Professor Morein will talk about our complex relationships with possessions, and how studying hoarding behaviours has broadened her perspective on societal contexts in mental health and the importance of communities.
The event will take place from 6pm until 7.30pm at ARU’s Cambridge campus and can also be attended online.
The following Wednesday Minna Lammi, Professor of Sustainability, will explore the role of innovation and new business models in the emerging circular economy and discuss the part businesses, policymakers, and consumers play in building a sustainable society and what the future of sustainability research could focus on.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 29 January from 6pm until 7pm at ARU’s Cambridge campus and will be followed by a drinks reception. The talk can be attended in person or online.
Other professors giving their inaugural lectures in 2025 include Professor of Cardiorespiratory Exercise Physiology, Dan Gordon; Professor of Molecular Biology, Nick Pugh; Deputy Dean (Education) in the Faculty of Business and Law, Professor Dan Berger; Deputy Head of the School of Computing and Information Science, Professor Silvia Cirstea; Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience, Jane Aspell, Assistant Principal of ARU Peterborough, Professor Tom Williamson; Professor of Children and Young People’s Health and Inclusion, Grace Spencer; and Professor in Biomedical Science, Havovi Chichger.
