‘Behind the scenes’ with Cambridge United chiefs
Free event at Anglia Ruskin University features club CEO and Director of Football

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is to host an exclusive “behind the scenes” event with senior figures from Cambridge United – officially the best-run club in the English Football League.
The free event, which will take place at ARU’s East Road campus on Thursday, 3 April (6pm-7.30pm), will feature Cambridge United’s CEO Alex Tunbridge and Director of Football Mark Bonner.
Earlier this season, the Fair Game Index recognised Cambridge United as the best-run club outside the Premier League, ranking it in the top 10 in the English Football League in all four categories: financial sustainability; fan and community engagement; good governance; and equality and ethical standards.
And with CBS Sports filming a fly-on-the-wall documentary series at the club to be shown in the United States and Canada next season, Cambridge United’s profile is set to grow even further in the coming year.
This ARU talk, which is open to the public, promises a unique insight into the inner workings at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.
Guests will learn about the club’s operations, its financial and media strategies, future investment plans, including stadium development projects, and how the academy and player acquisitions can be used to strengthen the playing squad.
As Cambridge United’s Education Partner, ARU is working closely with both the football club and the Cambridge United Foundation to improve health and wellbeing, and raise aspirations, across the city.
“This promises to be a fascinating evening for anyone interested in football, not just fans of the U’s.
“As shown by the Fair Game Index report earlier this season, Cambridge United are a model club, coming top in the English Football League and third overall in the entire football pyramid, behind only Spurs and Manchester United.
“As well as discussing the club’s formidable behind-the-scenes operation, the event will highlight the importance of partnerships that benefit fans, the local community, and the city of Cambridge as a whole.”
ARU’s Dale Gregory, who oversees the partnership with Cambridge United and is hosting the eventThe event on Thursday, 3 April is free to attend, but places must be reserved in advance at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/behind-the-scenes-with-cambridge-united-football-club-tickets-1253125665599
