ARU is partnering with Chelmsford Half Marathon
Anglia Ruskin University is the headline sponsor for inaugural event on 3 October
Approximately 2,500 people are expected to take part in the Chelmsford Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday, 3 October, which will start on Market Road before taking in the city’s landmarks and finishing at ARU’s Chelmsford campus. The event will also incorporate a 5k race, perfect for those just getting into running.
ARU’s Sports Science department will be offering training and nutrition advice to runners and Team ARU, the university’s sports coordinators, will also be involved.
Peter Martin, Race Director of Chelmsford Half Marathon, said:
“The ARU connection has opened up opportunities for many students to get involved in this new mass participation event, offering places to students to take part as well as providing opportunities to work at the event. ARU’s campus will be part of the 13.1-mile route and participants will be able to experience a unique finish line area at ARU, with on-site facilities provided by the university.”
Professor Roderick Watkins, Vice Chancellor of ARU, said:
“The Chelmsford Half Marathon promises to be a wonderful occasion for the participants and also for friends and families who will supporting the runners on the day, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to ARU’s Chelmsford campus on 3 October.”
As a registered road race, the Chelmsford Half Marathon will be run in line with Covid-19 guidance set by the Government and the governing body, England Athletics.
