Professor is named Vice Chancellor for local branches of Children's University

Essex schoolchildren took part in their own graduation ceremony at Anglia Ruskin University to celebrate their extra-curricular achievements.

Professor David Humber, Provost of Anglia Ruskin’s Chelmsford campus, has been named Vice Chancellor for the Blackwater and Braintree Campuses of the Children’s University, a national initiative designed to encourage seven to 14-year-olds to acquire new skills and raise aspirations by volunteering to take part in learning activities and experiences outside of school hours.

Professor Humber presented certificates to young graduates from the Blackwater Campus during a ceremony at Anglia Ruskin this week. Robes were provided so the children could enjoy the full graduation experience.

Professor Humber said:

“It was a privilege to become the Vice Chancellor of the Essex Children’s University and a joy to see so many youngsters enjoying their graduation ceremony.

“Extra-curricular activities give opportunities for children to enjoy new experiences, become well-rounded young people and begin the process of adding value to their future employability. It is a real pleasure to meet the students and their parents at the graduation ceremonies. Good luck to them all.”
