Full description

Course content

Our English Language Skills course is part-time. You'll study for three hours per week over four, eight or twelve weeks.

You can take this as a standalone course or combine it with our IELTS Preparation course.

The course will help you develop more effective English for work, study, and social use. If you're combining it with IELTS preparation, it will focus first on general English skills, before moving on to targeted work on exam strategies.

Course content includes:

  • improving your accuracy and range of grammar
  • developing vocabulary and word use
  • writing better
  • speaking with confidence
  • improving clarity and confidence with pronunciation
  • developing your reading and listening skills.

During the course, you'll develop your English skills using real-life language.

Our tutors will give you feedback, and set additional work for you to complete outside the lessons. You'll have access to our online learning materials, University library and computer suites.

This course is a good option if you wish to improve your English skills for proficiency exams such as the Cambridge First or Advanced Certificate.
