1. Tell us about yourself.
I graduated from Anglia Ruskin University back in 2008 with First Class degree in BA (Hons) Business Economics. Now I am a Managing Partner at Albert Cliff Limited, a recruitment consulting boutique based in London with offices in Frankfurt and Riga.
2. What is your fondest memory at Anglia Ruskin University?
The Student Union Bar. This was an amazing place with great food, especially English breakfast.
3. What advice would you give to current students as they're preparing to graduate?
Work very hard every day. I would leave the university library at 11.30pm, get home and then continue to study until 4am. This is how much I wanted First Class degree. You are only at university for 3 years or so and getting First Class degree is a must if you can. It will help a lot in the future job search as you will definitely stand out of the crowd. Do not get me wrong. I am not a geek. I was playing football in 1st University team, working in Marks & Spencer’s, partying hard with friends but I always made sure that I remained on course to get a First Class degree. There is no point to get to university if you do not want to get the best out of your time. Time is money!
4. What do you know now that you wish you had known whilst you were studying?
How much it would’ve helped me to actually understand how some subjects are more important than others.
5. How did your time at Anglia Ruskin help you?
It helped me a lot. Anglia Ruskin gave me the opportunity to become who I am now. Back in 2004 I applied to 6 universities, but Anglia was the one that provided me with an unconditional offer. The Business degree gave me everything I needed to establish and run a successful international business. It also helped me to grow as a person as I met a lot of interesting people from different parts of the world.
6. What did you love about your chosen course?
The tutors were amazing! I still owe them a lot and always happy to meet them if I am around at Cambridge.
7. What would you tell someone thinking of studying at ARU?
If you are willing to study at a very friendly and easy going university, this is a place for you. It is up to you to choose a university with a fancier name or ranking, but it does not guarantee that you will enjoy your time.
