At this lunchtime event, our visiting speaker Professor James Esson will share his research and work with Black populations located in the 'conspicuous margins' – a term used to describe people and places that, despite their importance and visibility, often exist on the periphery or outskirts of mainstream attention or discourse.
Free refreshments will be provided upon arrival.
Professor James Esson is a Professor of Geography at Queen Mary University. Before Queen Mary, Professor Esson was at Loughborough University, where he was a member of the Race Equality Charter Group and co-chair of the Black and Minority Ethnic Staff Network.
Through his research, James seeks to bring to attention the unique insights, experiences, and perspectives of people and places that may be overlooked, marginalised, or underrepresented in several ways to reveal hidden narratives and contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the world.
