ARU’s Global Sustainability Institute (GSI) proudly leads the SHARED GREEN DEAL, a collaborative European initiative focusing on sustainability.
SHARED GREEN DEAL is a five-year, €5 million project involving 22 organisations from across the EU, including universities, research institutions, network organisations, and businesses. The goal is to support the EU Green Deal's local and regional implementation through Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) tools.
The project targets eight key EU Green Deal policy areas through 24 social experiments, including Clean Energy, Circular Economy, Efficient Renovations, Sustainable Mobility, Sustainable Food, and Preserving Biodiversity. These efforts aim to drive climate action and reduce pollution.
SHARED GREEN DEAL activities are designed to change societal practices and behaviours among individuals, communities, and organisations. The project emphasises actionable steps that support the EU Green Deal's sustainability goals.
A new event series has been launched to highlight local actions that support the EU Green Deal. These events include workshops, webinars, and discussions, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration among stakeholders.
SHARED GREEN DEAL not only raises awareness of successful local sustainability initiatives but also promotes best practices and community involvement in sustainable development. Through these efforts, the project strengthens Europe’s commitment to a greener future.
"We’ve been so grateful for the energy, enthusiasm and engagement [of social experiment participants] … We really felt that this has been a partnership because what we’ve been doing wouldn’t have been possible without [participants'] input, expertise and guidance on how to mould our centralised plans to particular case sites." Prof Chris Foulds, project co-lead
"One of the most innovative contributions that the SHARED GREEN DEAL project makes is working across so many different sustainability sectors... It’s unusual to have a project that spans so many different topics and brings them together in consortium to be working closely with partners across Europe." Prof Rosie Robison, project co-lead
