2020 marks two important science fiction centenaries: the publication of Karel Čapek’s play about a robot revolution, R.U.R., and the birth of Isaac Asimov, whose fictional depictions of robots – and famous Three Laws of Robotics – have proved so influential.

A panel jointly convened by the Science Fiction Foundation and ARU’s Centre for Science Fiction and Fantasy will discuss the legacy of both Asimov and Čapek, and explore the significance of more recent depictions of robots and androids in science fiction.
