Presented by Dr Stephanie Parsons
This talk provides an insight into the emotional management of organ donation and the findings from Dr Parson’s research, which examines the relationships formed officially and unofficially between organ recipients, donor families and expert staff.
Dr Parsons is an Associate Lecturer in Sociology and lectures in Psychology at the College of West Anglia. Her research explores key concepts such as biosociality, which demonstrates how social actors make sense of their sense of self in the light of new modern technologies.
She recently collaborated with NHS Blood and Transplant and presented at the Annual British Transplantation Society conference alongside the director, to discuss the complications of the letter-writing process after organ donation has taken place.
