Val McDermid, Queen of Crime and number one bestselling author, joins us for the launch of Essex Book Festival.

Perhaps best known for her Wire in the Blood series, Val will talk about her latest heart-pounding thriller. How the Dead Speak features the unforgettable Tony Hill and Carol Jordan as they deal with the aftermath of past events. They are each living with the consequences of their actions in different ways, struggling to find a new normality in their fractured lives. But when a shocking discovery is made on a construction site, suddenly Tony and Carol are flung back into each other’s orbit once again.

'Brilliant . . . sensational . . . unforgettable.' The Guardian
