Researchers from the Global Sustainability Institute at ARU explain the concept of planetary boundaries: how human activity impacts on the earth as a complex system. We explore how risk and uncertainty can be incorporated into the modelling research we undertake, to predict “safe” levels of change, such as ozone depletion or biodiversity loss, while acknowledging the limits to our own understanding of how these factors can influence each other.

Presented as part of Cambridge Science Festival.
