The Positive Ageing Research Institute at ARU, in collaboration with All Saints Primary School and Longfield Care Home, presents the Maldon UP! Intergenerational project.

The UP! Project aims to make the Pixar animation a reality, providing a platform for older adults and children to make meaningful connections with each other. Based in mid-Essex, the project aims to tackle social and generational isolation in care home residents and promote children’s engagement with older people.

This talk offers a glimpse into the preliminary research which has been exploring the educational, social and emotional benefits to children involved; the contributions to older adults’ wellbeing in the care home, particularly those with dementia; and the changes in workplace environment for care home staff. The perspectives of those most involved from inception will also be shared with representatives from Longfield care home, All Saints Primary School and Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group joining the talk.

This event is part of Cambridge Festival of Ideas.
