The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) has been designed to increase your professional capabilities, make a positive contribution to your organisation, and produce publishable-level research. The DBA is a professional doctorate, designed to generate an original contribution to professional practice, through a rigorous engagement with management theory, and a focussed programme of independent research into a specific ‘research problem’ in your professional practice.

Research training

In the Faculty of Business and Law, we provide the training needed for success in doctoral level study.

This begins with an induction programme to welcome you into our Faculty, help you understand the process and timelines of a doctoral programme, get to know your fellow students, and refine your research proposal for formal approval.

This is followed by an intensive research methods training course spread over ten weeks (this is delivered entirely online at present). This aims to build your understanding of, and confidence with, research methods. You can then go forward with your project equipped with a practical plan for conducting your research that is underpinned by a doctoral-level understanding of methods.

We also provide practical support to help prepare you for the important milestones of the PhD programme, such as Upgrade of Registration.

All our training provides a safe and supportive environment for learning and working with your peers and our research-active staff.
