Employability and entrepreneurship

Careers and employability support

As a faculty, we know your choice of university is about more than what you’ll be studying.

For us, your student experience is a priority, with co- and extra-curricular activities and events that make your time with us both more enjoyable and valuable for your future, and dedicated employability support to help you get your dream job once you graduate.

You want to be able to practice what you’ve studied (including in a real work environment), access excellent facilities, and take advantage of networking and socialising opportunities to help you build your career alongside your studies.

Here are some of the opportunities and support available:

Student Engagement team

Our faculty's dedicated Student Engagement team is here to support you throughout your course with events and activities to help you succeed in your studies, boost your employability, and socialise with your fellow students. They'll also ensure your voice is heard in the faculty.

Placements

Placements can help you develop knowledge, skills, and experience that are highly desirable to future employers. Most of our undergraduate degrees offer an optional placement year, and postgraduate students also have the opportunity to go out on placement for 1-2 trimesters.

Mentoring

The Get a Career Mentor programme is hosted by your ARU Employability Service and matches current ARU students with their own career-focused mentor. A mentor is a professional contact who can work with you to give you insights into the realities of working life or continued study.
