The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has announced its annual call for PhD students wishing to experience research in another country.

The Society allows young researchers from North America and Europe to spend two months over the summer working closely with Japanese scholars.

The JSPS says, "The programme has been successful not only in developing young UK researchers’ international outlook and research skills, but also in creating/strengthening research links between institutions in Japan and the UK over many years, and received very positive feedback from past fellows and host institutions."

Eighteen fellowships will be awarded to UK applicants for 2018, who will complete their projects between 12 June and 22 August 2018. Applications must be received by 15 January 2018, and are administered in the UK by the British Council.
