What makes us who we are? Choices and Decisions. Languages or analytics?

When it was time to go to university, it took me a while to make the final choice. A BSc program called International Economic Relations caught my eye. I moved to Moscow, and the program turned out to be perfect for me - I gained sufficient knowledge about the development of world economic relations and mastered my English proficiency.

To stay in my comfort zone or push the limits and get out of it? It was a question I had to answer during the third year of my studies when I got used to the big city lifestyle and tight deadlines at university, so I decided to take part in the student exchange program. During the program I had an International Marketing module which I chose randomly from a range of elective courses. Surprisingly, I got very excited about marketing and branding and my interest in this field did not disappear even when I came back to Moscow. Thus, for the first time I published an article on the concept that was not relevant to International Finance. In other words, a quick decision to take Marketing course planted a seed of doubt about my future career in my mind.

Whilst doing an internship at Finance in a multinational company and working on cross-functional projects, witnessing what people from Marketing did, I could not help thinking how much I would like to join them. And I decided to apply to MSc Marketing to ARU.

What makes us who we are? Choices and Decisions. I am now a long way from an ordinary girl from a small Russian city dreaming of a better life, to one of the students at a prestigious university in England, and a promising employee in the multinational company. But it is not the end. I want the story of my life to end in the world of Marketing: I want to grow and develop as a Brand Manager. I am eager to be a part of the marketing team – I look forward to applying superior skills and knowledge gained at ARU to assist my company in a Brand Manager role. I have taken a lot of important decisions and I hope I will a get a chance to fulfil my dreams.
