Research Councils UK (RCUK) have announced their funding scheme for 'Interdisciplinary Research Hubs to Address Intractable Challenges Faced by Developing Countries'.
This falls under the Global Challenges Research Fund, with between £8m and £20m available for each of the expected 12-15 hubs.
Whether or not you would hope to lead such a centre, this is clearly an opportunity to engage with international consortia focused around aspects of international development. The Hubs will open on 1 December 2018.
In order to be successful in this call, a Hub will demonstrate excellent:
- challenge and impact focus
- interdisciplinary research excellence
- global partnerships
- organisation and leadership.
Intention to submit must be received by 29 September 2017. We strongly suggest that this would not be led by a single researcher, so we urge you to consult your networks and examine if you can form a consortium capable of tackling this call.
